Visitors to Contractor’s Day, the new one-day exhibition for roofing and cladding contractors from the NFRC and Total Contractor magazine, will be able to test their roofing skills at the BMI Skills Zone on the Icopal flat roofing and Redland pitched roofing rigs. BMI will have the rigs set up with a number of intentional mistakes and visitors will be invited to show off their roofing knowledge by pointing out the defects.
Andy Dunn, Publishing Director of Total Contractor magazine, explained why the Skills Zone is such a good addition to Contractor’s Day: “We all know that roofers are a competitive bunch and they rightly take pride in their work and in doing things right first time, so we’re pleased that BMI will be bringing their flat roofing and pitched roofing rigs to the Skills Zone so visitors can test their knowledge against their contemporaries, plus be in with the chance of winning up to £250 in vouchers!”
Mat Woodyatt, BMI UK & Ireland Technical Training Manager, explained: “The defects challenge is a key part of our Apprentice of the Year competition and we’re pleased to bring it to the BMI Skills Zone at Contractor’s Day so a wider audience can give it a go. We’re looking forward to seeing how many contractors can spot all our deliberate defects and seeing who’s really up to the challenge!”
Mat and his team will also be bringing some of the apprentices who took part in the Apprentice of the Year competition so they can talk about how they are progressing in their careers and show off their roofing skills, plus visitors will be able to interact with the rigs and pick the brains of the BMI Group experts.
Amanda Brackey, Head of Marketing at the NFRC, continued: “The BMI Skills Zone will be a hive of activity and alongside our contractor-focussed seminar and speaker programme, plus with over 50 exhibitors including the leading manufacturers and suppliers of roofing, cladding and insulation materials and systems, the interactive element of the Skills Zone is another great addition for visitors which makes Contractor’s Day an event not to be missed.”
Contractor’s Day takes place at Twickenham Stadium on 30th November 2018. Register now for your free ticket: www.contractorsday.co.uk
